ABOUT THREAD LIFT

A thread lift procedure is similar to a facelift, in that it is designed to lift the skin and reduce wrinkles. However, the procedure is less invasive as the skin and tissue are not removed. Whilst the procedure is less invasive and has a quicker healing time, the improvements are minor and may not last very long.

A thread lift is performed under a local anesthetic, and involves the insertion of barbed surgical threads. These are pulled through the skin using a long needle, are looped through the skin, and rest beneath the skin to tighten and lift loose skin. If many threads are being inserted, a sedation may also be used to ensure comfort throughout.

Over the course of 9-12 months these threads dissolve in the skin. The desired outcome is that the skin holds its new position, however it is common for the skin to slowly return to its natural position.

Recommended for

  • A thread lift can target sagging around the cheek, jawline or neck.

TIME REQUIREMENTS

  • Number of days in hospital: 1.

Overnight stay not required.

  • Average length of stay abroad: 2 – 3 days.
Many patients choose a thread lift to reduce wrinkles and rejuvenate the face as it is less invasive than a facelift.
