HOW TO FIND QUALITY TREATMENT ABROAD
BEFORE THIGH LIFT ABROAD
Ahead of surgery, the patient should consult with their doctor about the potential approaches to surgery, most often centering on whether short or long scar surgery is likely to give the best result.
Additionally, the surgeon will give the patient a list of dos and don’t for the days leading up to surgery, usually including abstaining from smoking, drinking and aspirin.
HOW IS IT PERFORMED
There are different ways to perform a thigh lift and how the procedure is performed, will depend on the desired outcome. Patients will usually choose between an inner thigh lift and an outer thigh lift.
When performing an inner thigh lift, the surgeon makes an incision along either side of the pubic area on the inner legs, extending down towards the knee and removing any excess skin and fat. The skin is then pulled tightly together and sutured into place. Many patients opt for an inner thigh lift as this leaves very minimal obvious scarring because of where the incision is made.
An outer thigh lift involves making an incision on the outside of the thigh at the top of leg, removing excess skin and tightening the skin on both sides of the leg. An outer thigh lift is recommended for patients who have lost a vast amount of weight, however the procedure leaves more noticeable scarring.
Anesthesia
General anesthetic.
Procedure duration
The Thigh Lift takes 1 to 2 hours.
WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER THIGH LIFT
Post procedure care
After the procedure, the thighs will be bandaged. Patients will usually have surgical drains in place for several days to prevent a build up of fluid. Once the surgical drains have been removed, they will be replaced by a compression bandage that should be worn for between 4 and 8 weeks, or as advised by your doctor.
Possible discomfort
Soreness and swelling are common, and complete rest is advised for at least a few days after surgery. Normal activity should be possible after 8 weeks.
