ABOUT MALE BREAST REDUCTION
A male breast reduction procedure treats gynecomastia (breast growth in men). The condition is caused by a hormonal imbalance, which can affect any man, regardless of age, size, and weight. Patients who suffer with gynecomastia cannot target the area with exercise. The development of male breasts may also be the result of obesity.
Some cases of male breast development can be treated with non-surgical methods such as a change in diet, increase of exercise, and radiation therapy. However, when such methods do not work, many patients seek the surgical removal of the breasts. The surgery involves making an incision in the breast and removing the breast tissue.

HOW TO FIND QUALITY TREATMENT ABROAD
BEFORE MALE BREAST REDUCTION ABROAD
Patients should consult with the doctor to establish the best cause of treatment for their condition. Most doctors will advise patients with male breasts which are caused by lifestyle factors, to attempt to resolve the problem with diet and exercise. If non-surgical methods are unsuccessful or will not work in certain cases, then surgery should be discussed.
HOW IS IT PERFORMED
The surgical procedure involves the removal of excess fat and glandular tissue in breast. An incision is made around the nipple (areola) and any excess fat and tissue are removed with liposuction. If there is not a lot of tissue to remove, then the surgeon may make a larger incision, extending from the nipple down towards the chest, as it may also be necessary to reposition the nipples.
Anesthesia
General anesthetic.
Procedure duration
The Male Breast Reduction takes 1 to 2 hours.
WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER MALE BREAST REDUCTION
Post procedure care
After the procedure, it is recommended to rest and relax for a couple of days, and surgical drains may be needed to remove fluid from the surgical site. The surgeon will usually provide a compression bandage to be worn for the first month, but patients can go about their normal activities in this time.
Possible discomfort
After surgery, patients generally experience mild to moderate discomfort. Swelling and bruising are normal after surgery and will start to subside in a few weeks.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
An areolar reduction (reduction to the area around the nipple) can be performed during a male breast reduction procedure. This procedure will require an incision in the area, and thus may result in scarring, but it is easily hidden in the color difference between the areola and skin.
The only treatment known to be effective for gynecomastia is surgery. Pills, exercise regimens, or other alternative treatments, are not supported by medical evidence.
Gynecomastia can return if the gland tissue is not completely removed, steroids or other drugs trigger its return, an underlying medical condition is not corrected, or there is significant weight gain. Otherwise, the results will be permanent.
Recovery from male breast reduction surgery depends heavily on the individual patient. There will likely be pain for 2 to 3 days. Normal office-type activity can be resumed when you feel comfortable. More strenuous activities should be avoided for a few weeks. Your doctor will monitor your recovery and advise you on what activities you can do.
The final results of the surgery may not be immediately obvious due to swelling, which will go down in a few days. You should, however, see some immediate results.
Male breast reduction carries a similar risk to other major surgical procedures under general anesthesia. These risks include blood clots, adverse reaction to anesthetic, bleeding, infection, and unfavorable scarring. Additionally, male breast reduction procedures can fail to remove all of the gland or problem tissue and gynecomastia can recur as a result. These risks can be reduced by selecting a reputable and experienced plastic surgeon and following all of their instructions before and after surgery.
