BEFORE DERMAL FILLERS ABROAD

Patients should consult with the doctor about their expectations and discuss problem areas to be addressed. The doctor will then choose the type of dermal filler which best suits the patients needs. Before commencing with the treatment, the doctor may conduct a skin test in order to ensure that the patient is not allergic to the filler.

HOW IS IT PERFORMED

Once a treatment plan has been established, the doctor will disinfect the injection site, before proceeding to inject the filler directly into the area. In some cases, the doctor will also administer a small amount of anesthetic.

The procedure is quick and relatively pain-free, and patients can usually fit it into a normal day of activities.

Materials

Commonly used dermal fillers include hyaluronic acid (eg. Restylane and Juvederm), calcium hydroxyapatite (Radiesse), Poly-L-lactic acid (Sculptra) and collagen fillers (ArteFill, CosmoDerm etc.)

Anesthesia

In some cases local anesthetic is used to numb the area.

Procedure duration

The Dermal Fillers takes 30 to 45 minutes.

The surgeon reshapes the nose into the desired shape or size.

WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER DERMAL FILLERS

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Dermal fillers are made of a variety of substances that have been specially formulated to be safe to inject under the skin. The most common dermal filler is hyaluronic acid. Different fillers may be more suited to different areas of the body. Fat may also be extracted from the patient’s body and injected into different areas the same way dermal fillers are.

Complications from dermal filler injections are uncommon when performed by an experienced surgeon and they are considered a very safe treatment. Many patients are very happy with the results.

There is no significant recovery after dermal filler injections, and you can go home the same day. There may be some slight bruising after the injection, which may worsen with strenuous activity. Patients worried about this are advised to avoid exercising for 2 days after the injection.

There may be some minor pain when the injection is being administered. The surgeon should be able to minimize any discomfort and may use a local anesthetic to numb the area.

The body absorbs most fillers over time; therefore the results are not permanent. The injections will need to be re-administered at some time. How long dermal fillers last depend largely on the type of filler used and the patient’s body. On average, results last around 4-6 months but some patients’ results may last longer. Hyaluronic acid injections can be reversed with a substance called hyaluronidase.

Dermal fillers are not the same as Botox injections. Dermal fillers work by filling areas under the skin to give it a more youthful appearance and smooth out lines and wrinkles. Botox works by paralyzing the muscles under the skin that cause wrinkles.
