ABOUT BREAST AUGMENTATION
Breast augmentation is a surgical procedure to change the size and shape of the breasts. While many patients opt to have breast implants inserted to increase breast size, breast augmentation more commonly refers to the enlargement of the breasts using fat transfer.
When opting for breast augmentation with the use of fat transfer, the fat is first removed from the stomach or thighs using liposuction, and then injected into the breasts. Surgeons can usually increase the size by around 200cc maximum (around 1 cup size) with fat transfer.
A breast augmentation procedure using fat transfer is recommended for patients who want larger breasts, and have fat available on their stomach or thighs.

BEFORE BREAST AUGMENTATION ABROAD

HOW IS IT PERFORMED
A breast augmentation with fat transfer begins with the harvesting of fat from parts of the body with excess fat (such as the thighs or abdomen) by using liposuction. Whilst the liposuction part of the procedure is necessary, it also helps to remove stubborn fat from the body, which patients may have had difficulty trying to get rid of through weight loss. The removed fat is prepared by cleaning and isolating the pure fat. A large volume of fat is injected into the breast through the small incisions, as not all of the fat is expected to survive.
Unlike with breast implants, using fat transfer can make it difficult to determine the final size and shape of the breast. However, the use of fat transfer compared to breast implants is less invasive and creates softer and more natural-looking breasts.
In addition to the use of fat transfer for breast augmentation, some clinics are now offering the transfer of fat and stem cells for breast augmentation. Whilst the procedure is quite new, is is believed that by using stem cells as well the fat, that the fat can be sustained better and has an increased chance of surviving, after it has been transferred to the breast.

WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER BREAST AUGMENTATION
Post procedure care
Depending on your surgeon, you may be asked to wear a postoperative bra, compression bandage, or sports bra for extra support and positioning during the recovery and healing process. Some surgeons may advise the patient not to wear a bra at all for a certain period of time following the surgery.
Possible discomfort
Some swelling and discomfort is normal, and usually subsides completely after 2-3 weeks.
