ABOUT MILIA REMOVAL

Milia are small yellow-white spots that appear on the skin. They occur when keratin (a substance in the skin) becomes trapped under the skin. They are pain-free and harmless but can be aesthetically unpleasing.

Milia removal is usually recommended for milia in adults only, as milia are common in children, but usually go away themselves without treatment.

It is important to use proper tools to remove them, as trying at home can sometimes result in scarring. Professional removal is performed using either a sterilized lancet to pierce them and remove the center, topical retinoid creams, acid peels or microdermabrasion.

BEFORE MILIA REMOVAL ABROAD

There are a variety of ways to treat milia without consulting a dermatologist. It is worthwhile committing to an exfoliation routine for some time, to see if the condition can be improved before seeking professional help. However, piercing the milia at home is not recommended.

HOW IS IT PERFORMED

The skin is disinfected with some rubbing alcohol or other antiseptic substance. The skin on top of the milia is gently opened with a sterile lancet or needle. Pressure is applied with a comedone extractor, and the milia typically pop out without further difficulty.

Procedure duration

The Milia Removal takes 30 to 60 minutes.

The surgeon reshapes the nose into the desired shape or size.

WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER MILIA REMOVAL

Post procedure care

After the procedure, you may have small read marks at the extraction sites. You may be given skincare advice to follow, but in general you can return to your normal activities following the treatment.
